Quinbrook's 520MW Flat Rock BESS Advances in Australia's Environmental Approval Process
Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has taken a significant step towards realizing its 520MW Flat Rock Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The company has submitted the project for assessment under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.
The EPBC Act is a key piece of Australian environmental legislation, assessing the impacts of major projects on nationally significant matters such as threatened species, world heritage properties, and water resources. By submitting the Flat Rock BESS project to the EPBC Act, Quinbrook is demonstrating its commitment to responsible and sustainable development.
This move aligns with the increasing focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors in the investment community. As the demand for renewable energy grows, so does the need for robust environmental assessments and sustainable practices in the energy sector.
